Toshiba Satellite M200 Windows XP sound driver
Again Toshiba driver.
Since the sound driver I suggested in my previous post does not work, so lastly I need to upload the driver of my laptop.
But the driver I uploaded does not content setup file. Therefore, one needs to right-click “oem1.inf” and select “install”.
I exported the driver using DriverMax (freeware). I didn’t upload the original setup folder, because it is about 83 mb. So, after exported and compressed the file, it is about 9 mb.
Toshiba Satellite M200: Audio and modem drivers
Sorry for some visitors looking for the other drivers, because I did not notice that some visitors asked about the other drivers.
For the audio driver, I installed from my Toshiba laptop. So I don’t know where can find the correct driver. So, I found that Softpedia provides similar driver version. You can try the driver.
For the information, the audio driver I installed is:
Realtek High Definition Audio
Date: 3-1-2007
Version: 5.10.0.5377
(Info showed by using DriverMax)
Website colour hurting your eyes?
Do you find that some websites background colour is hurting your eyes?
You can solve this problem by installing Greasemonkey or Stylish if you are using Firefox. If you are using IE, then you need to install Trixie. I personally do not install Trixie.
Then, install the “user styles”:
Black text on white background or Light text on black background
If you are using Maxthon instead of IE, MyStyle is the solution.
"Language Bar" and "The language bar"
This is an XP annoyance. I don’t know how does it comes out. The problem is, when I righ-click the task bar, and choose “Toolbars”, there shows “Language Bar” and “The language bar”.
I also not sure how to solve this problem. But what I have done already solved the problem. That is, I disable “The language bar”, which also disable the real “Language Bar”. Then I enable “Language Bar” again, and this time no more “The language bar”. And I restart XP. And fixed it.
A very bad experience for updating BIOS
I will remind myself, “do not try to update BIOS by myself anymore”. This is a very bad experience. Because update not success, then hard disk not detected. What can I do? Data corrupted? Don’t know.
But fortunately, everything recovered. I don’t know why. Just insert the BIOS update CD again, then everything failed again with new error, and restart and detect the hard disk. What can I say? Stupid vendor or stupid me?
Dealing with Toshiba Satellite M200
I don’t like Windows Vista, now. I don’t mean that I will remain dislike Vista in future. Why? I only tried a while. I feel that its greatest change is the interface change. And found that, it cannot run several applications which I can run in Windows XP.
So, I go to search about comparison of Vista and XP. Click here to see.
But it does not relate to this article much.
Mozilla Archive Format (MAF) plugin: Cannot open .mht file
Recently, I found that, I cannot open “.mht” file directly using Firefox. Previously, once I installed Mozilla Archive Format, there is no problem to open .mht file. But now, I just drag and drop a .mht file, it will pop up the “Open with…” dialog. Very incovenient. So I search for the solution from internet. However, I cannot find anything.
Lastly, I go to Mozilla Addons website to search any plugin that can edit MIME. Because I read the forum, they said it is because of the problem of MIME. So I found a plugin, MIME Edit. Yes, using the plugin, I can edit the file type for the Firefox. So, I change the “maf” (Mozilla Archive Format) related data, to “open using default application”. Then, problem solved.
Firefox FEBE: 1 extension(s) pending installation
When I want to use FEBE to backup the Firefox extension, I got a message:
“You have 1 extension(s) pending installation that will not be included in the backup. …”
Then I searched for the solution. This happened because there existed “profile folder\extensions\staged-xpis”. And what I had done was just delete the “staged-xpis”, then the problem is solved. Because inside the “staged-xpis”, I found a “tmp.xpi”.
