Since Windows XP Service Pack 3 released, we might need to install the critical hotfixes ourselves. There are several ways to install hotfixes. We can search for “windows offline update” from internet.

But, I personally prefer go to The Software Patch, and download manually. Because I can download whatever I like. However, installing those hotfixes manually is troublesome. Then I wrote a batch file to install the hotfixes automatically. But I need to update the batch file whenever I download new hotfixes. Finally, I found a good solution.

Helping another friend, to fix the same virus infection, Worm:Win32/Conficker.C. But this time, the situation is different.

Doing the same procedures like last time. But, during the scanning in safe mode, the computer suddenly turned off. Then I tried to restart. When log in to Windows, suddenly, “blue screen of death” come out, and the computer restarted. So, could not log in to Windows anymore.

SystemRescueCD, my favourite. Use it in order to backup the data from C: drive. Then, using the ntfs-3g to mount the D: drive, found a message something like:

Two days ago, I was helping one of my juniors to rescue his laptop. However, I didn’t bring any tools. And I recalled a LiveCD, SystemRescueCd. Then I tried to download it. Luckily the internet connection was good. The file size is 234 Mb (version 1.2.0). And immediately burned it to a CD using CDBurnerXP.

However, I am not familiar to the Linux command. Fortunately, SystemRescueCd provides GUI. So, used the wizard to start X Windows. Then, I needed to copy the data from C: drive. Firstly, I tried to copy the data to a pendrive. But the pendrive did not have enough disk space. Then, I tried to copy to D: drive. But the D: drive is NTFS filesystem. I knew about ntfs-3g before, but I did not know how to use it. The start screen of SystemRescueCd did provide information on how to use ntfs-3g.

I played Totem Tribes 3 times, because I want to see the different endings. Besides that, it is quite a good game, the storyline is good.

It combines War Craft and “seek and find” game genre. But the “seek and find”, is very very difficult. Sometimes, need to search for the solution from internet.

Now, I want to talk about cheating in the game. Because playing it for 3 times, without cheating, it will be very boring. Besides that, remember backup the files before editing for the cheating.

Today, I just clean a virus from my friend’s computer (Windows XP). When I found the virus, I could not scan it. The virus (or worm) will create autorun.inf and a Recycle Bin folder in the pendrive. The malicious executable file is in the Recycle Bin folder in the pendrive. So that when the pendrive plugged into other computer, with the autorun feature, the virus will duplicated.

Firstly, I successfully cleaned the virus from the pendrive. Use the Unlocker to remove the Recycle Bin in the pendrive. Delete the autorun.inf.

About “isi32.exe”, if a PC is infected, when we insert the USB pendrive, the pendrive will automatically be written with an “autorun.inf” and a “RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1482476501-1644491937-682003330-1013”. However we delete the “autorun.inf” and “RECYCLER”, they will be written again and again.

And the “isi32.exe” is duplicated inside the “RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1482476501-1644491937-682003330-1013”. Thus, the antivirus like AVG cannot detect the file, since it is in the recycle bin.

When the pendrive plug into other PC, and when the pendrive is run with “Autoplay”, the virus will be duplicated in C: drive again. So that another PC will be infected.

Once I received an email about mobile phone tips: 1) emergency number 112, 2) unlock the remote keyless entry enabled car, 3) activated hidden battery power, and 4) check the mobile phone serial number. And I also forwarded to my friends.

And recently, I just search about whether these tips are true or not. From Hoax-Slayer, it says that they are partly true. I think it is better to read it yourself. Read more.

When I was trying to register on some Chinese forums, I always met a problem. The verification code could not pass. Even I tried many times.

我所遇過的中文論壇，通常都會有AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML)，所以當你一輸入驗證碼後，就會自動幫你檢查驗證碼是否正確。縱然那裡顯示正確，當我一提交資料，還是會有驗證碼錯誤的訊息。
Most of the Chinese forums I visited, they are using AJAX. Therefore, after you enter the verification code, the AJAX will help you to check the code. Though it showed me correct, when I submit the form, there is a message said that my verification code is incorrect.

When I used OO3 Math, I found that the symbols like “equal” and “times” appeared as strange characters. And found that they are “windings font”. Therefore, I found the solution from the PortableApps.com forum. Click here to read the forum.

The solution is not difficult. You just need a file “opens___.ttf”. Yes, it is the filename “opens___.ttf”. You can get file from OO2 portable version. To solve the problem, you just copy “opens___.ttf” to OO3 as the path of OO2.

I read newspaper, in Malaysia, there are Nokia Kiosks, which you can recycle your unwanted mobile phones, any mobile phones, not only Nokia. Doing this, you can adopt a tree in Indonesia, and you no need to plant the tree by yourself. And, you can see your tree through Google Earth. What a great idea!
